Recommended excursions
Medaqua is an ideal hub for water sports and activities, with experienced and motivated staff on hand to ensure your groups safety and enjoyment. Groups stay in hotel accommodation close to the centre. Water sports and activities available include snorkelling, sea kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboard, boat trip and cycling.
Explore otherwise inaccessible corners of the shoreline by sea kayak, which combines elements of sport, sea and adventure. Ultra-stable two-person kayaks are used for beginners, and trips are guided by ‘Medaqua monitors’ with radio and telephone back-up. The usual itinerary is around the Medes Islands, with an optional stop for bathing and/or visiting Meda Gran Island.
After 10 years as a protected zone, the seas around the Medes Islands are like an aquarium. Saddle bream, peacock wrasse, damselfish and grouper are just a few among the many exotic fish you can observe on our snorkelling trips. Wetsuits are provided, and ‘Medaqua monitors’ – one for each group of eight – will guide you around the most interesting places.
On this boat trip from L’Estartit harbour to a ‘hidden’ cove in the Montgrí cliffs, you’ll visit Pedrosa Island and – sea conditions permitting – navigate through a hole in the rocks called Roca Foradada, before finally hopping off at a small cove at the foot of the Montgrí. You can then take a 90-minute walk back to L’Estartit.
Medaqua activities don’t end where the sea does. A guided bike tour will take you along the beach, through the nature reserves of the coastal marshes, along river banks, through the countryside and even into the mountains. There are many bike routes to choose from, some easy, some a bit more challenging.
A trip to Barcelona city is a must. You can see Antoni Gaudi’s Parc Guell and his still unfinished masterpiece the church of the Sagrada Familia, browse the Boqueria market and wander the lively Las Ramblas.
This large landscaped aquatic park is close to the resort of Roses. There are 18 water based attractions with twisting water slides, waves and waterfalls and crazy rivers. Thrill rides include the Black Hole and Kamikaze (seasonal).
Set in the artist’s home town of Figueres, this museum houses the single largest and most diverse collection of works by Dalí and a number of works by other artists collected by him, ranging from El Greco to Marcel Duchamp. A volunteer guide can highlight different aspects of the collections. Fact: Dalí is buried in a crypt in the basement.
Students learn the balance skills needed to stand on the board whilst using a paddle to propel themselves through the water. This popular water sports activity builds general muscle strength.
