This is the UK’s central bank and was founded in 1694. The museum traces the establishment’s history through the major people and events that have shaped it. Whether it’s the architects who have developed the structure or the colourful characters in ‘Stories from the Past’, students will find a relevant aspect through which to explore the financial giant.
The origins of this trading company can be traced back to 1571, when the process of exchange shifted from the coffee house tradition to the Royal Exchange. The global importance of this company is greater than its profile suggests and the visit it is an excellent chance for students to learn about the pricing of futures and options, and market predictions.
The Lloyds of London headquarters are located in a spectacularly modern building on Lime Street in the City. The insurance market began in 1689 and a visit to the current premises features a presentation on the history and present day activities of the structure. A tour of the building includes the Underwriting Room at the heart of the business and Lutine Bell.
This is an excellent opportunity for football fanatics to explore Chelsea’s home turf and learn about the business of the club. The tour includes the press room, Chelsea FC dressing room, pitch side and a walk through the Players’ Tunnel. A question and answer session in the press room allows students to get inside knowledge of industry aspects such as sponsorship and marketing.
