This factory tour shows how the Škoda brand has survived upheavals to modernise, collaborate and retain a competitive edge. Visits to the production facilities 55km from Prague allow students to study the role of theoretical organisational processes in real-life business. They can also explore the role of manufacturing in a modern economy.
Take a visit to the Cerge Economic Institute, part of Charles University, and hear an expert talk on business and economics. During the lecture, students will deepen their understanding of the Czech Republic by learning about its history, the political system, its economic development, state budgets, unemployment numbers and import and export systems.
Founded in 1846, Rückl Crystal makes cut leaded crystal items including glasses, perfume bottles, trophies and lamps. Students can tour the glassworks in Nižbor, and learn about the individual stages of producing glass crystal by hand, including the furnaces, processing, designing and polishing.
See how this Czech favourite beer is produced, how it uses modern technological processes to adapt to its target market and how the business has grown internationally. The tour is automated, with monitors, holograms and sound to tell the story of the brewery.
Come to the home venue of Sparta Prague and the Czech national football team and find out about the running of this 20,000 capacity ground. Gain an insight into the experience of fans, players and staff on a tour that reveals how a major stadium runs as a business and broadcasts games.
Tip: The stadium took its current shape in 1994, when it was extensively renovated.
This factory tour starts with a film on the history, production and environmental activities of TPCA. Then students are given helmets, goggles and a handset and ride in wagons through the production area. They see welding, logistics, quality control and final assembly, all with commentary on headphones. They then head to a conference room for a question and answer session.
