With over 2,000 objects ranging from the early 1900s to cult contemporary design, the museum’s collection records the history of interior, domestic and digital design and shows how key innovations have shaped our modern world. Stylish exhibitions including Designer of the Year showcase the most imaginative works in fashion, architecture and graphics.
Get inspired at the world’s greatest museum of art and design, with collections unrivalled in their scope and diversity. Artefacts include ceramics, paintings, textiles, jewellery, photographs and medieval objects from European, North American, Asian and North African cultures. The museum’s collection of Italian Renaissance items is the largest in the world outside of Italy.
Although it’s one of the biggest antique markets in the world, Portobello road is a mecca of vintage clothing, music, craft and local produce. Students love being a part of the authentic London vibe and spotting the bizarre street performers that keep the crowds entertained.
A cosmopolitan slice of London life, Camden Market has grown from a group of clothing stalls in the 1970s to the sprawling craft, fashion and antique mecca of today. It attracts over 10,000 people each weekend and is the perfect way for students to get a sense of London market culture.
The museum is a highly effective way for students to engage with the history of the city, traced through the social record of clothing and fashion artefacts. The dress collection is internationally recognised for its quality, representing London’s position at the centre of the global fashion industry and reflecting the city’s diversity of life.

Starting with the historic shops of St James’s, students move via elegant Regency shopping arcades to the tailors of Saville Row. The group then visits Bond Street’s designer outlets and the famous department store, Selfridges. Find out colourful details such as why a certain shopping street was named after a saint (to make the inhabitants behave).
Hear the stories behind the unique designs of 15 remarkable London shops and eateries. This inspiring walking tour takes you from Piccadilly to Soho to Mayfair. Memorable highlights include a futuristic ‘floating’ staircase that weighs five tonnes, robotic animals in an indoor rainforest, and a shimmering cave made from real gold.
