Humayun’s Tomb (Unesco World Heritage Site), was the first garden-tomb on Indian Subcontinent. It is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India. Students will get to know about the influence of Mughal in India and their architectural contribution in shaping the northern plains of India. This magnificent garden tomb was built in 1565 and is often considered a precursor to the Taj Mahal owing to the stylistic similarity of its structures.
Take a tour of Old Delhi and enjoy the biggest and bustling market of Delhi. Explore through the narrow alleys of Chandni chowk, visit the Jama mosque followed by the Asia’s largest spice market – Khari Baoli. Old Delhi, was founded as Shahjahanabad by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in 1739 AD. It was once filled with mansions of nobles and members of the royal court, along with elegant mosques and gardens.
Popularly known as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur is renowned for its impressive buildings and complex of courtyards. Jaipur’s most distinctive landmark is the Hawa Mahal. Made up of red and pink sandstone this beautiful five-storey palace is an attraction not to be missed.
Jaisalmer is a former medieval trading center and a princely state in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, in the heart of the Thar Desert. Known as the “Golden City,” it’s distinguished by its yellow sandstone architecture. Dominating the skyline is Jaisalmer Fort, a sprawling hilltop citadel buttressed by 99 bastions. Behind its massive walls stand the ornate Maharaja’s Palace and intricately carved Jain temples.
Jodhpur is a city in the Thar Desert of the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan. Jodhpur- Mighty Mehrangarh, the muscular fort that towers over the Blue City of Jodhpur, is a magnificent spectacle and an architectural masterpiece. Set on a rocky outcrop, the fort overlooks the walled city, where many buildings are painted the city’s iconic shade of blue. Jodhpur is the second largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan and officially the second metropolitan city of the state.
